Ephesians 6:10-13 (NRSV)
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For our[a] struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
God is able to make you stand, not in your own strength, but in the strength of Jesus Christ. (Romans 14:4)
By yourself you are an easy target, but with the strength of the Lord, you can stand and not give in. When Satan shows up in your life with temptation, announce that you are going to stand in Christ. Let him know that you are going to stand until the shaking stops.
Sometimes you have to stand until the tempter loses his power, until your marriage is restored, until your debt is wiped out. When you do the standing, God does the strengthening. Draw strength from your praise, from your prayer and from the word.
He won’t just strengthen you once, he will do it again and again. He will strengthen you every time you face a difficult challenge. He will strengthen you every time the memory comes back. He will strengthen you every time your troubled past comes back to haunt you. He will strengthen you every time you face a difficult situation.
