Mission & Outreach

If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

John 3:17-18

Kairos Ministry

The mission of the Kairos Prison Ministry is to bring Christ’s love and forgiveness to all incarcerated individuals, their families and those who work with them, and to assist in the transition of becoming a productive citizen.  “I Was in Prison and You Visited Me”…..Matthew 25:36

The Kairos Prison Ministry forms teams of Christians who become TDCJ Certified Volunteers to serve at TDCJ Units. We accept forty-two inmates per weekend, and put on two weekends per year in the Bartlett, TX State jail.  Kairos encourages the selection of leader inmates, both positive and negative. Many times the forty-two participants will include those who are seemingly unlovable. Once God changes the hearts of the residents, we have found that they have a great influence in the environments of their Unit.  In addition to the volunteers that go into the prison, adults and children of our congregation support this ministry through prayers, letters of love and encouragement and baking cookies. It is our privilege to have the opportunity to introduce them to Jesus and then show them the love he has shown us. With “God’s Special Time” they have the opportunity to know the Kingdom of God.

For information about joining the Kairos Ministry, please contact Willie Johnson.

Caring Ministry

Caring for and witnessing to others is one of our most important duties as Christians. The Caring Ministry provides ongoing contact through visits, telephone calls, and cards to sick and shut-in, and mature Wesley church members. By reaching out to others we reach out to God.

Should you have information pertaining to someone who is sick or shut-in, or for information on joining the Caring Ministry, please contact the church office (478-7007) or June Murphy.

Evangelism Ministry

The Evangelism Committee is responsible for welcoming all people into the congregation so that they may develop a relationship with God. It supports the mission of the church by promoting it as a place of worship, education, and Christian fellowship.

Anyone interested in loving and nurturing people for Jesus Christ is invited to be on this vital ministry team.  Please contact Carla Hoxie for additional information.
